AVIA’s mission has three components:

  • Promote the interests, enhance the prestige and increase the knowledge of veterinarians interested in large animal populations;
  • Improve the living and health conditions of large animal populations;
  • Ensure better collaboration between veterinarians and other stakeholders interested in large animal populations

One of the aspects of AVIA’s mission being to increase the knowledge of veterinarians interested in large animal populations, the AVIA regularly offers its members continuing education sessions.

These sessions take the form of conference evenings or days of clinical case presentations (“wet-lab”). Generally, four to five evenings of conferences, including one to two in poultry, as well as a porcine “wet-lab” and an avian “wet-lab” are organized per year.

These continuing education activities are recognized by the Order of Veterinary Doctors of Quebec (OMVQ).
